Maybe you used to shoot hoops at school but fell out of practice… since then you’ve acquired a beer belly and a mortgage? Perhaps you always wanted to play basketball but couldn’t work out the rules... maybe you just need an excuse for something to do on a Monday or Tuesday Evening? If any of this sounds familiar it’s time to come and train with Bristol’s least serious sporting outfit: Bristol Benchwarmers Basketball Club. We welcome men and women, as long as you're 18+. From the couch... to the court, we aim to get you back into playing Basketball in Bristol as soon as possible! We offer two different training days along with a mixed session on Sunday, all with at least one coach to keep your skills up to scratch in a fun, inclusive environment. Your first few sessions are free, and then the monthly membership is quick to set up and considerably cheaper than any gym you'll find (we'll even throw in a free t-shirt)! If you are interested in coming to a session please get in touch via our Contact Us page first and we'll give you all the details you need.
What else we provide?
Click the questions below to find out more!
The choice of sessions are Monday (19:30 – 21:00) or Tuesday (18:00 – 19:30). We then offer a Sunday session (09:30am – 11:00am) to anyone who is part of the Monday or Tuesday sessions. All this happens at The Park Sports Centre in Knowle (BS4 1DQ)
As long as you’re 18+, you’re welcome to join!
Membership is paid for monthly at a price of £22.50. This gives you access to every Monday or Tuesday session as well as any Sunday session.
Sessions are an hour and a half and we normally split that into coached drills and then a game.
Sorry, we’re an adults only club. Take a look at the other great work Bristol Sport Foundation are involved with here: https://www.bristolflyers.co.uk/community/

Hi all! We’re the Bristol Benchwarmers, but you may have known us before as Lazyboys Basketball Club! Having run Lazyboys for several years, the main man behind it all is going to retire from the game for a bit. So here we are, new name, new partnership, still lazy…
